About Kamakura

Known as a popular seaside getaway, Kamakura is a resort town surrounded by the mountains and open sea. Located just about an hour south of Tokyo, it’s a great destination for surfers, tourists, and hikers alike – there’s something to explore for everyone!

Once the political capital of medieval Japan, Kamakura has shed the fortress town image for more contemporary vibes. You’ll find streets lined with quaint shops full of antiques, unique knick-knacks, and hipster trends. On the next block over, peaceful temples and serene shrines will quietly awaken your spiritual side!

Whether it’s the surf at Yuigahama Beach, the Great Buddha at Kotoku-in Temple, or a trek through the mountains and valleys, Kamakura is a thriving town for a taste of ancient Japan with a hint of modernity.
