Tour Details

The base of this cycling tour is in Kamiichi town, Toyama pref. The town, famous for its effort of green tourism by preserving “nature” and “life” passed down from long time ago, has now grown up as a center for cycling, trekking, and other activities such as experiencing some of the more deeply spiritual Japanese traditions. “Takigyo”, an ascetic practice of standing under waterfalls or “Shabutsu”, tracing Buddha images are one of those. And, the highlight of the trip is an outing to Shirakawa-go and Gokayama, a World Heritage site featuring village landscapes with distinctive historic thatched roof homes. We”ll also cycle to historical town of Iwase port to visit merchant houses, dated back to some 300 years ago and Japanese rice wine brewery.
