Tour Details

Enjoy Japan to the fullest with this tour. We spend 4 days in Kyoto and Nara, where 3 of world heritage sites are located. We’ll cycle/walk to cover most of must-see places there. We”ll also enjoy biking around Ise-Shima area, where 2016 summit will take place and pay a visit to the Ise Grand Shuraine, the most sacred shrine in Japan. Another highlight of this tour is “Ninja” experience at Iga, which used to be one of Japan’s two leading ninja schools. You’ll wear ninja costume and learn how to throw “Shiriken”, a traditional Japanese concealed weapon which ninja used during the feudal era.

Itinerary

Day 1

Meet at Nagoya Station at 12:00 noon and set for Kashikojima, Ise-Shima area in Mie pref..

After a warm-up ride we have a riders meeting to explain traffic rules in Japan, schedule, and route of the tour.

Day 2Ago bay cycling

Ago Bay is the southern part of the Shima Peninsula and famous for cultured pearls. While cycling, you’ll find many cultured oyster rafts on the calm sea surface.
We cycle the impressive coastal lines along Ago bay.

There are more than 50 islands in the bay. One of those is Kashiko-jima island, a venue for 2016 G7 summit.

We bike about 50 km today.

Day 3Cycling to Ise Grand Shrine

We start cycling for Ise, where the Ise Grand Shrine is located. The Shrine is on top of all shrines in Japan and represents Japan’s mythical stories. It features the inner and outer shrines according to the Shinto traditions.

Close to the shrines, there are shops and restaurants. You can enjoy local food and shop unique souvenirs.

We’ll take the train for Iga-Ueno, the base for Ninja experience.
Upon arrival at the hotel, you can change your clothes to a ninja costume. Be ready to become a ninja tommrow!

Day 4Ninja Experience

Get ready to be a “ninja”. Please put ninja costume before taking a ninja train. Enjoy a ninja show and practice how to throw a “shuriken”

After having a thrilling experience, we’ll head for Nara, ancient capital of Japan.

No cycling.

Day 5Nara Cycling

Today, we cycle world heritage sites in Nara. In Nara, there are 2 world heritage sites, one is “Buddhist Monuments in the Hōryū-ji Area” and the other “Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara”. We”ll cover most of the sites. Nara is an ideal place cycling as traffic is less congested and quiet, when comparing Nara with Kyoto.

Day 6From Nara to Kyoto

After breakfast, we”ll head for Kyoto using a comfortable cycling road. It starts from the north part of Nara city and the road ends at Arashiyama, Kyoto.

In the afternoon, we cycle to the Philosopher’s walk and visit some of the temples and shrines mostly in the north part of Kyoto city.

Day7Kyoto cycling/walking

It is a free day, today. You can bike or walk depending on where you would like to visit. It is nice strolling the beautiful ancient city.

Day 8

This tour ends after breakfast.

If you are not hurry, it is nice to visit Fushimi-Inari shrine.
If you would like to extend your stay after the tour, arrange railway, air or other post-cycling travel, please feel free to ask. We’ll be more than happy to help arrange it.
